"In the beginning, the world was dark, without sun. The heavens opened and the stars, like luminous stars, fell on our dark planet. They were called Embers. Wise and powerful druids of an original race, the Lightbringers, set out across the orb in search of this luminous material. They performed an awakening ritual to awaken the Embers from their deep sleep. The veil of darkness was lifted, and the world was suddenly luminous. The Embers embodied magic flame, light and life, and as word of their pure power spread, they became the object of a frantic hunt and were captured, and so the Embers War began."

In Ember, players are resurrected as Lightbringers and called upon to protect dying Embers as the world is on the brink of collapse.
