Train Simulator: West Rhine: Köln - Koblenz Route Add-On
Buy Train Simulator: West Rhine: Köln - Koblenz Route Add-On Steam key on FrsGames.com and discover the magnificent landscapes of Rhineland-Palatinate! This exceptional 96 km (60-mile) line links Cologne, Germany's fourth-largest city, and Koblenz, one of the oldest. It offers a spectacular route along the west bank of the Rhine, through the Rhineland-Palatinate region of West Germany.
History of the line
The first section of the line opened on February 15, 1844 between Bonn and St Pantaleon, Cologne's former main station. It was then extended in 1856 and 1859 to include Cologne's main station. To the south, Koblenz is an important crossroads along the Moselle valley to France and south to Mainz, while Cologne is a major hub for local, national and international lines, with over 280,000 passengers using its station every day. Halfway along the line, the former West German capital of Bonn hosts regular ICE trains serving much of Germany.
.Traffic on the line
The line forms the southern section of Deutsche Bahn's RE5 "Rhine Express" service, which runs from Emerrich northwest to Koblenz. Intercity and ICE hourly services, Regio passenger trains and various freight services also use the line. Commuter traffic even allows a glimpse of the exceptional heritage left behind.
Landscapes to discover
All along the line, medieval towns and castles, river barges gliding serenely by, remind passengers of the historic area they are crossing between the two densely urbanized cities of Cologne and Koblenz. The large freight stations at Bruhl and Bonn-West are also well-known landmarks, as is the DB Museum at Koblenz-Lucelle, which occupies a former depot connected to the main line.
.Vehicles included
A DB BR 146.2 electric locomotive and five Doppelstock (double-deck) coaches are included, forming the RE5 "Rhine Express" train. A DB BR 294 electric locomotive with freight cars and a DB BR 101 locomotive with passenger cars enable a variety of services on the line.
Scenarios included
Six scenarios for the line are included: Daytime traffic, Winter travel to Remagen, Storm travel to Bonn, Night driving to Cologne, Empty containers to Cologne and Freight to Andernach. Further scenarios are available on Steam Workshop, both online and in-game.
