Train Sim World®: BR Class 33 Loco Add-On

Buy Train Sim World®: BR Class 33 Loco Add-On Steam key at FrsGames.com! In 1957, an order for diesel-electric locomotives was placed for British Railways' Southern Region. Known then as BRCW Type 3, these mixed freight locomotives were equipped with Bo-Bo axles and 1,550 hp Sulzer engines, enabling them to reach speeds of 137 km/h (85 mph). The nickname "Crompton" comes from their Crompton Parkinson electrical equipment. The BR Class 33 is a legend that lands in Train Sim World to perform diesel operations on tourist circuits.

The first BRCW Type 3 rolled off the production line in 1959 and entered service in December of that year. A total of 98 locomotives were delivered in 3 main variants. Once in regular service, the Type 3 became an essential locomotive for the Southern Region and South Eastern Division, mainly for freight and passenger services to Dover, steel haulage between Sheerness and Willesden, cement and engineering trains. It was also used in the South West, where a subset of locomotives was fitted with equipment belonging to self-propelled elements to push and pull trains to Salisbury and Weymouth from London Waterloo.

.

The success of these locomotives transformed key services across the Southern Region, which explains why 29 of them are still with us today; including some certified to run on the main line. Two locomotives in conservation: the D6566 (33048) and the D6575 (33057) "Seagull" have found a home with the West Somerset Railway and are operational. They are decked out in classic British Rail green livery.

.

Train Sim World's BR Class 33 now joins BR Class 47 and BR Class 09 to bring even more life to shows on the West Somerset Railway's tourist routes. Note: Train Sim World: West Somerset Railway is required to play this content (available to purchase separately).
