Highrisers: an urban survival RPG

Humanity has been stricken by a mysterious prion disease, which has left those infected trapped in an eternal dream. Unable to wake up, they transformed and became the mysterious dreamers: sleepwalking, zombie-like creatures who shun the light. They now live in the dimly-lit urban canyons of cities and in the lower floors of skyscrapers, hiding from the sun; they only come out at night, trying to catch those who still resist.

The four survivors

Four survivors are trapped on a skyscraper in a desolate metropolis, and it's only through tenacity, tinkering and teamwork that they'll make it out.

Recovery

Without the comforts of a functioning society, cities quickly become a hostile environment. In order to survive and find a way out, the team must search every nook and cranny of the building and salvage anything they can get their hands on.

Crafting

From simple clubs to crossbows, improvised firearms and explosives: with the right materials, tools and a healthy dose of ingenuity, survivors can build an arsenal to be reckoned with. And it's not just weapons: barricades, workbenches, tools, machines, medicine, food and much more are all available.

The search

Before craftsmanship comes research. Many of the most advanced inventions require certain skills. And while there's a lot of useful knowledge to be acquired, survivors don't have time to learn it all. With the right combination, they can make it through another night.

Teamwork

Thankfully, survivors can pool their resources, skills and knowledge. If they work together and combine their skills, they greatly increase their chances of survival. An old crashed helicopter on the roof is their only chance. Even if it can never fly at full throttle again, they can use it to leap from rooftop to rooftop and slowly make their way out of the city.

• Fighting Dreamers, mutant humans who live in the dark will try to catch you. You must fight them, lure them, immobilize them, hide from them, dissuade them and make them wait until the sun rises and saves you - for another day.
• Careful travel planning, to survive the night. The special floors found in the buildings allow you to obtain extra-valuable loot or special interactions.
