A journey through Germany and Sweden

The success of the ferry between Germany and Sweden pushed for a greater connection with the continent, and so a bridge was built over the Strelasund in the 1930s. Sassnitz and Sweden weren't the only ones to benefit from the island railroad. The coastal town of Binz also found itself served by a single-track branch line from Lietzow, and with all the other trains heading there, it's an equally important destination today.
