What happened?

Just before the apocalypse began, fast-food chain MKing launched a new burger product onto the market. Addictive additives were secretly added to the meat to boost sales. The plan worked. However, the addictive drug caused all areas of the brain to shut down over time, with the exception of the area responsible for craving fresh meat. Lots and lots of meat! As if that wasn't bad enough, this disease also results in those affected not being able to die naturally.
